Port Alberni Valley Times Masthead
Newspaper Information

General Newspaper Information

The newspaper was formed in 1967 from the amalgamation of two older newspapers, the earliest of which had served this community since 1919.

The AV Times is very strong on local news and is regarded by most people as the main source of information for the valley.

The Alberni Valley Times reaches 75% of the homes in the valley on a Friday and 60% on other days of the week. An average of 2.4 people reads each issue, giving us a readership of 17,500 on weekends and over 14,000 during the rest of the week. Reader retention (and therefore credibility) is high and 60% of home subscribers have been with us for ten years or more.

EMC days are Tuesday (inserts are wrapped in a "Sample Copy" of the Port Alberni Times) and Friday (inserts are wrapped in "Living in the Alberni Valley", this is an Arts & Entertainment publication that is also inserted into the paid product).
