The Campbell River/Comox Valley North Islander is a FREE community newspaper that has been serving the entire North Vancouver Island area from Bowser in the south to Port Hardy in the north (including Campbell River and Fanny Bay) with regional News, Arts and Leisure, Outdoor and Adventure, Health and Lifestyles, Food, Family Life, Home and Gardening, and Classifieds for over 20 years.
The female audience relates to our female columnists who write on recycling, recreation, cooking/recipes and nature. It also is popular with outdoor recreation weekly exclusive advertisers such as Spinners Sports and River Sportsman looking for a predominantly male audience, particularly for our Fishing and Outdoor writers. It is the prime advertising vehicle for auto dealers from both Campbell River and Courtenay, as their respective dealer associations only allow competing ads in newspapers that service both markets (eg. Ford in Campbell River couldn't place an ad in a Courtenay newspaper that only services the Comox Valley area and not the entire North Island because there is a Ford dealer in Courtenay, whereas the dual market paper is fair game).
Markets: Campbell River, Comox Valley (Courtenay, Cumberland, Black Creek, Merville, Lazo, Royston, Union Bay, Fanny Bay, Denman Island, Hornby Island), North Vancouver Island: Total Population 12,945 with 6,048 Households (BC Stats 2000) - Gold River, Thasis, Sayward, Port McNeil, Port Hardy, Port Alice, Zeballos, Quadra Island, Cortes Island).
North Islander will move their publishing day to Tuesdays effective Tuesday, March 13, 2007. It will be inserted into the Comox Valley Echo on Tuesday, the Courier-Islander on Wednesday and to all North Vancouver Island communities as an inserted section of the Courier-Islander on Fridays.
