Rock Star: INXS coming to PRIME on July 1

(TORONTO - Monday, July 11, 2005) Mark Burnett's new reality series Rock Star: INXS premieres Sunday, July 17 at 5 pm on PRIME. Viewers can get a recap of the three episodes that aired earlier in the week on CH.
Hosted by alternative rock guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) and model/actress Brooke Burke (Wild On), 15 contestants, four of them Canadian, will vie to become the lead singer of the Australian rock band INXS.
Rock Star: INXS combines the world of rock music and unscripted drama. The series also focuses on the contestants' live stage performances as well as their behind-the-scenes relationships. Each week, with input from viewers, judges and INXS band members, there will be one contestant eliminated. The winner will become the new lead singer for INXS, and join the band on a world concert tour and work with the group on a new album.
With a career spanning 25 years, INXS is unquestionably one of the world's greatest bands. They have sold more than 30 million records worldwide, and garnered numerous awards. Lead singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997. Following a two-year hiatus, the band returned to the concert stage to officially open Sydney's Olympic Stadium. By 2002, INXS had returned to the international concert arena and guest vocalists included Terence Trent D'Arby and Jon Stevens.
Back-to-back episodes of Rock Star: INXS premieres Sunday, July 17 at 5 pm on PRIME.
Rock Star: INXS airs on CH Hamilton, CH Vancouver Island and CH Montreal on Mondays at 9:30 pm, Tuesdays at 10 pm and Wednesdays at 9:30 pm.
