Canadians get the chance to cast their vote for Rock Star:INXS!

(TORONTO - Wednesday, July 6, 2005) Canadians will get the chance to vote for their favourite singer when the new summer reality show Rock Star:INXS premieres Monday, July 11 on CH Hamilton, CH Vancouver Island and CH Montreal. Fifteen of the best undiscovered talents from around the world, four of whom are Canadian, will be given the opportunity of a lifetime to be the new lead singer for the Australian rock band INXS.
The show will air on three consecutive nights per week. Every Monday at 9:30pm, viewers watch as the competitors endure a series of rock-and-roll workshops. These aspiring rock stars will be guided and mentored by legendary rocker Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction), in their quest to become an international rock star. At the end of each workshop, the contestants will choose songs and rehearse for their live performances to be aired on the next night. In the Tuesday episode at 10pm, hosted by model and actress Brooke Burke (Wild On), the competition will begin as all the contestants perform. They will be accompanied by an all-star house band playing some of the best rock music in history, with songs by The Beatles, Nirvana, The Doors, The Police, R.E.M and The Rolling Stones. Following the concert on Tuesday night, audiences will be asked to vote on that night's performances, either at rockstar.msn.com www.rockstar.msn.com or via text messaging through Canadian wireless carriers. Each message will cost 25 cents. Detailed voting information will be available at www.canada.com/rockstar beginning Monday, July 11. Then, every Wednesday at 9:30pm, using the tabulated results, the three lowest rated contestants will have to perform an INXS song for a live audience and the band itself. INXS will make the ultimate decision as to which contestant to eliminate each week. Rock Star: INXS premieres with a one-hour episode on Monday, July 11 at 9pm,followed by a one-hour show on Tuesday at 10pm and a half-hour show on Wednesday at 9:30pm. Effective July 18, Monday night episodes will be a half-hour, beginning at 9:30pm.
