(TORONTO - Wednesday, March 9, 2005) The new half-hour comedy series The Office premieres on Thursday, March 24 on the Global Television Network. The series will move to its regular scheduled time on CH Hamilton and CH Vancouver Island as of March 29.
Based on the hit BBC series, The Office is a docu-reality parody about modern office politics that delves into the everyday lives of the workers at a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Led by single, middle-aged regional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell), who is the boastful tour guide for the documentary, Michael believes he is the office funnyman, a beacon of business acumen and employee camaraderie. He has no clue that his underlings tolerate his inappropriate behaviour only because he signs their paycheques.
Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) is the friendly office receptionist who bears the brunt of Michael's routines. The bright spot in Pam's day is Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), a likable sales rep with a good sense of humour who is too comfortable with his office mates and routine to leave.
Jim shares his work space with Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Michael's arrogant, intensely irritating assistant. Jim spends a lot of time finding new, interesting ways to drive Dwight crazy. Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak) is a young, smart, self-possessed temp, who quickly figures out the real office politics.
The Office premieres Thursday, March 24 on the Global Television Network as follows:
Ontario/Quebec/British Columbia - 9:30pm
Manitoba/Saskatchewan - 8:30pm
Maritimes/Alberta - 10:30pm
NOTE: The series will then air in its regular time period Tuesday, March 29 at 9:30pm on CH Hamilton and CH Vancouver Island
