CanWest MediaWorks Appoints New Senior Executive Producer
|

| Position supports plan to grow CanWest MediaWork’s entertainment franchise |

TORONTO, Ontario – Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, CanWest MediaWorks, and Steve Wyatt, Senior Vice President, News and Information, CanWest MediaWorks, today announced the appointment of Zev Shalev as Senior Executive Producer for the television assets of CanWest MediaWorks.
In his new role, Mr. Shalev will be responsible for building the company’s entertainment franchise. This will include the development and launch of a new daily entertainment program for the fall schedule.
Mr. Shalev joins CanWest MediaWorks with over 10 years of experience in the media industry. In his most recent role as Executive Producer for TORONTO 1, Mr. Shalev was responsible for the company’s current affairs programming, including the entertainment show "The A-List". Prior to this, Mr. Shalev was the co-founder, CEO and Executive Producer of U8 TV, an innovative internet TV channel in partnership with Alliance Atlantis, and has also worked extensively in journalism, including in his capacity as Executive Producer of Canada AM at CTV.
In welcoming Zev Shalev to the organization, Ms. Williams commented, “Zev's varied experience makes him an ideal candidate to grow our entertainment programming. Mr. Shalev will report into both Ms. Williams and Mr. Wyatt. “Zev’s role will be integral in ensuring a strong link between the news and entertainment franchises.” said Mr. Wyatt. “We are pleased to have him on the team building bridges between these two important parts of the television lineup.”
