(TORONTO - Friday, November 11, 2005) The Gemini Awards, a two-hour, star-studded special airs Saturday, November 19 on Global Television. ET Canada welcomes the stars in the Gemini pre-show special ET Canada On The Gemini Red Carpet hosted by Cheryl Hickey.

The Gemini Awards, which will be broadcast live from The John Bassett Theatre in Toronto, is a celebration that showcases excellence in the industry. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Gemini Awards and to commemorate this milestone, Gemini winners from the past will team up with this year’s nominees in fun and unusual “situations”. With pairings like Nicholas Campbell (DaVinci’s Inquest), with Luba Goy (Royal Canadian Air Farce) and Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall); and Jeanne Beker (Fashion Television) with Gavin Crawford (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), anything can happen in a live format. The cast of ReGenesis will battle on stage a most unusual virus that you'll never see on a real episode of the show.

Joining the stellar list of celebrities scheduled to present awards are Peter Outerbridge and Maxim Roy from Global’s provocative drama series ReGenesis; Steve Byers and Jennifer Kydd from Falcon Beach, a new drama slated to join the Global schedule in January 2006, Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is it Anyway?), RTNDA winner Global National’s Kevin Newman and ET Canada’s host Cheryl Hickey and reporter Rick Campanelli. Other prominent Canadians include Patrick McKenna (Traders), Sara Botsford and Art Hindle (ENG), Gemini award-winning actress Wendy Crewson (Air Force One), Cynthia Dale (Street Legal), Rex Goudie (Canadian Idol runner-up), Academy-award nominee and Gemini winner Graham Greene, Tara Spencer-Nairn (Corner Gas) and comedic actor and writer Mary Walsh.

Cheryl Hickey and the rest of the ET Canada team will have exclusive coverage of the red carpet, welcoming the stars and turning the attention of entertainment fans to the glitz and glamour of this distinctive evening. This half-hour special will focus on the fashion hits and misses, with Rick, Roz, Kim and Rosie providing the scoop on Canada’s favourite celebrities.

ET Canada On The Gemini Red Carpet airs Saturday, November 19 at 7:30pm in all markets, followed by The Gemini Awards at 8pm on Global Television.
