Global highlights for week of March 7

(TORONTO - Wednesday, March 2, 2005) Please note the following highlights for the week of March 7 on the Global Television Network. Programming is subject to change. Check local listings for times.

Monday, March 7
Fear Factor (90-Minute Episode): Four sets of identical twins must work as teams to claim up to $50,000 (US). Secured beneath a helicopter over a frigid lake, one twin has to jettison the other into the water and then must jump in too. After a harrowing swim, they both have to dive off of a moving speedboat. Those who advance to the next stunt are confronted by what may be the most extreme stunt ever attempted on the show.

The Contender (Premiere): The one-hour unscripted drama explores the human drama in and outside of the boxing ring. Executive produced by Mark Burnett, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Sylvester Stallone, the series will follow 16 aspiring boxers from training camp through a series of ring challenges as they pursue their dream of becoming a champion prizefighter and winning $1 million (US) in prize money. Viewers will get a firsthand look into the real life hopes, triumphs and defeats of the contestants who will train with and be mentored by Stallone and five-time world champion Sugar Ray Leonard.
Episode 2 will air Thursday, March 10. The series moves to its regular timeslot Sunday, March 13.

Tuesday, March 8
House: Billionaire entrepreneur Edward Vogler (guest star Chi McBride) buys his way into becoming chairman of the board with plans to use the facility as a new biotech venture, which could mean the hospital no longer needs the services of Dr. House.

Wednesday, March 9
Will & Grace (Rebroadcast): After a great date with someone else, Grace comes home to a garbled message from Leo. Karen and Jack try to set each other up, but things go awry.

Gilmore Girls: When Rory spies Logan out on the town with another girl, she immediately regrets their agreement to date other people.

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy: The Fab Five's mission: to cultivate a professional appearance for lifelong bachelor Al, a deputy chief in the New York City Department of Sanitation, that will show upper management, and his new girlfriend, that he's ready to take on bigger and better responsibilities.

Thursday, March 10
Joey (Rebroadcast): Gina has trouble with letting Michael live his own life. Joey and Gina try to teach Michael how to pick up women. Joey learns that Alex is his landlord.

Survivor: Palau: The sixth castaway is eliminated.

The Apprentice: The teams meet with popular music artists to help raise money for charity. One candidate tries to act a little too hip while another becomes star struck.

Friday, March 11
Last Chance for Romance: Troy and Lisa: Lisa and Troy have a complex family that includes stepchildren, exes, grandparents and step-grandparents. It is critical for them to take time for each other without the children, but they have to overcome the feeling that this is a selfish act. It is essential to the long-term health of their marriage and, ultimately, their family. The 13-part series is hosted by Cheryl Hickey and features relationship expert Joe Rich.

Whose Design Is It Anyway?: Designer and host Jason Cass goes head to head with homeowners to redesign an area in their home. The winning design will be selected by family, partners and spouses of the homeowners, and a renowned home décor expert.

Jonny Zero: Jonny teams up with his bounty-hunter friend (guest star Peta Wilson) for what he thinks will be a quick stakeout to apprehend a stolen ice cream truck, but the freezer is found to contain more than ice cream.

Sunday, March 13
The Contender: The one-hour unscripted drama explores the human drama in and outside of the boxing ring as 16 aspiring boxers pursue their dream of becoming a champion prizefighter and winning $1 million (US) in prize money.

The Simpsons: Selma tries to adopt a baby from China and gets Homer to pretend to be her husband in order to fool the orphanage functionary, Madam Yu (guest voice Lucy Liu).

Arrested Development: Lucille abducts George Michael for a mother-son dance. Tobias stars as George Sr. in a biopic about the Bluth family, which causes Lindsay to be more attractive to him.

The Simpsons (Rebroadcast): When the residents of Springfield Retirement Castle are cut off their medication because of high costs, Grandpa and Homer go to Canada where they meet a friend that gives them cards that will let them get all the prescription drugs they can carry. Ned and Apu accompany them on their next trip to Canada, but an unfortunate incident gets their cover blown as they try to cross the border.

Kelsey Grammer Presents: The Sketch Show (Premiere): The half-hour comedy series, similar to the entertainment style of Laugh-In, features an average of 30 vignettes per half hour of quick-fire puns, gags, one-liners and sketches that showcase the comedic talents of Kaitlin Olsen, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Paul F. Tompkins, Malcolm Barrett and Lee Mack. Shot both on location and in front of a studio audience, the series is executive produced by Kelsey Grammer and is based on the critically acclaimed and award-winning U.K. series.

Crossing Jordan: Authorities fear an airborne virus killed a passenger and a baggage handler at an international airport, until new evidence points to a ring of drug smugglers.
