Apprentice III premiere draws 1.6 million viewers

(TORONTO - Friday, January 21, 2005) Thursday night's premiere of The Apprentice grabbed the highest ratings of the night, winning the evening for the Global Television Network. The 90-minute premiere drew 1.116 million (A18-49) viewers nationally, with a total 2+ audience of 1.628 million.

The third installment of The Apprentice opened to ratings that were up versus last springs' first season average and up 31% over the Season II premiere this past fall among A18-49. The 90-minute premiere built 38% from beginning to end.

Last night's episode, in which 34-year-old sales manager Todd was the first to be fired, earned an 11 rating among A18-49 in the Toronto market, according to BBM People Meter Data. In Vancouver, the episode garnered a 13 rating.

This season, The Apprentice pits the Street Smarts group against the Ivy League set as 18 competitors in New York City's corporate jungle take part in the ultimate job interview and the chance to work for business tycoon Donald Trump.
