canada.com Launches New Classified Site renting.ca

(VANCOUVER, BC) – CanWest MediaWorks Inc. has launched a new classified site as part of the canada.com network. renting.ca launched today in Vancouver, offering Canadians a new online renting service that contains the largest listings database in Canada. The site will be rolled out across Canada’s major metropolitan cities including Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Montreal.
The new site provides comprehensive local rental unit listings that enable potential renters to effectively research the market and find a place that meets their criteria. The site is also designed to enable property managers, landlords and private renters to market more effectively across the region and eventually across the country.
renting.ca is the newest addition to the canada.com network, which is comprised of 43 websites, including 11 of the countries’ top metro newspapers, including the Vancouver Sun and The Province.
“Because of CanWest’s reach, renting.ca contains the most comprehensive and largest list of properties in Vancouver,” said Dale King, General Manager, renting.ca. “Features such as the user friendly search tool, the canada.com network viewing function and the email alerts will enable potential renters to find what they’re looking for faster and property managers to post their information to a larger network.”
Features of the new site include:
• The most photo uploads of any online rental site (up to 6)
• Large property description section, including property location
• Email alerts to potential renters
• Featured properties displayed across the canada.com network
• Email alerts of new listings which match users’ criteria
• Ability to save searches and properties
“With one third of the 11.6 million households in Canada looking for places to rent we decided we needed to service the market in a larger context,” said King. “We designed the site to not only contain the most comprehensive information but to direct potential renters to that information immediately so they can start the hunt right away.”
