working.com Empowers the Global Engineering and Applied Science Community

working.com has partnered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) to launch a site dedicated to professionals in this field. The new section located at working.com/engineering, will provide individuals in the engineering and applied science community with tools such as job postings, industry news and links to other industry resources.

“This partnership with ASTTBC creates an outlet for attracting people into the engineering and applied science industry,” said Kim Peters, General Manager, working.com. “The new section addresses the impending labour shortage in BC and provides much needed resources and information required by industry professionals.”

The working.com/engineering site will act as a tool helping technical professionals search for new avenues and new engineering opportunities in BC. With an increase in the degree of labour shortages and an increase in the creation of engineering opportunities, the site will spread the word to trained professionals about the growth in the engineering and applied science sector in the province. Through the ASTTBC partnership with working.com, individuals will benefit from this knowledge and create teams of individuals who are more capable of responding to present day market demands.

“The demand for skilled labour in BC is rapidly rising and there are predictions of serious labour shortages in the coming years,” said Jason Y. Jung, Manager Membership Development, and ASTTBC. “Partnering with working.com to create this dedicated resource will provide the regional and international workforces with the information and tools they need to succeed in the industry and therefore combat the potential shortage.”

ASTTBC is a self governing professional organization incorporated under a provincial statute (ASTT Act, RSBC 1996 c.15). Originally established in 1858, ASTTBC is now an association of approximately 9,000 members representing twenty four disciplines in the fields of engineering and applied science technology.
