CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc. Appoints New Vice President and Chief Information Officer

TORONTO, Ontario – Dennis Skulsky, President of CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc., today announced the appointment of Edward Brouwer to the position of Vice President and Chief Information Officer of CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc.

In this position, Mr. Brouwer will be responsible for all of the Print IT systems at CanWest, which includes having primary responsibility for specification, installation, operations and maintenance of key print software systems within the Publications group, including the National Post.

“I am very pleased to welcome Edward to CanWest MediaWorks,” said Mr. Skulsky. “His extensive breadth of experience in bridging the worlds of print and digital media will prove valuable in the current environment.”

With over 15 years of experience in various facets of the newspaper business, Mr. Brouwer most recently served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Metroland. In this role, he led the deployment of many IT enhancements and re-positioned IT as a sales enabler. Prior to this, Mr. Brouwer held many senior positions with a variety of publications and new media organizations across Canada, including President of icontact, Director of IT at Lower Mainland Publishing, and Publisher of the Edmonton Examiner.

Mr. Brouwer received a degree in communications from York University in Toronto and is a member of the Newspapers Systems Group, a North American association of newspaper CIOs.
