Washington Bureau Chief Takes On New Role |

(VANCOUVER) CanWest MediaWorks Senior Vice President of News and Information, Steve Wyatt announced today that Troy Reeb has been appointed to the newly-created position of Vice-President, News Operations, Global News and CH News.
In this key strategic role, Reeb will be responsible for coordinating all News efforts at the local and national level, providing direction to the cross-Canada team of local News Directors, as well as the Global National staff, and managing and developing resources across the network on a daily basis. This promotion is effective September 1st and Reeb will be based in Toronto.
"As we continue to grow our news operations and adapt to a rapidly changing landscape, it's critical that we continue to harness the immense talent we enjoy across the country - and build audiences across all platforms with content that delivers a unique, award-winning blend of context, immediacy and relevance," said Wyatt. "I believe Troy will help us take on the myriad of issues that challenge us everyday, and strengthen a unified and efficient news organization that is well equipped to meet the needs of today's evolving news consumers."
Uniquely suited to this new role, Reeb brings nearly 20 years of extensive management and international field experience. As Global News Washington Bureau Chief since 2004, Reeb delivered ground-breaking coverage on a wide variety of issues, and significantly enhanced the bureau's contribution to not only Global National but local news operations as well. Previously, Reeb's innovative style and reporting skills for Global News were utilized as the Parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa and, prior to that, at Queen's Park in Ontario.
"Global has shown tremendous support for quality journalism, both at the national level and in the communities we serve," said Reeb. "I am looking forward to working with our incredible pool of talent to continue building Canada's innovative and trusted news brand."
Along with support from CanWest MediaWorks, Reeb sponsors an annual scholarship for a journalism student in his home province of Alberta, and earlier this year he undertook a volunteer mission to Bangladesh to train journalists on the basics of covering elections and supporting the democratic process.
