(VANCOUVER) Beginning Thursday, October 5th, Global National with Kevin Newman - Canada's most-watched national newscast - will present a special five-part series, bringing viewers first-hand insight and perspective on Canada’s part in the war against terror in Afghanistan.

Broadcasting from the front lines, Newman will take viewers behind-the-scenes with our Canadian military, share Thanksgiving with our troops, and profile the everyday realities faced in their fight to protect civilians and keep peace in a dangerous, war-torn region.

Joining the team will be Global National’s Francis Silvaggio and Christina Stevens from Global News Ontario, providing in-depth analysis on the question of whether Canada’s military effort is making a difference for Afghans, and indeed, for Canadians.

Audiences nationwide are invited to join Assignment: Afghanistan through www.globalnational.com, by submitting questions for our military leaders, or Thanksgiving greetings to the men and women of our armed forces.

In addition, Newman will chronicle his experience and provide his personal thoughts through his online blog at www.globalnational.com.
