The National Post And Best Lawyers To Publish The National Post Best Lawyers In Canada
|
 |
(Toronto) The National Post's Legal Post, the newspaper of record for the legal community in Canada, and Best Lawyers ®, publishers of the definitive guide to leading lawyers in the United States, today announced plans to publish the National Post-Best Lawyers In Canada.
Beginning October 18 and every other week after that, the Legal Post will highlight the countrys top-rated lawyers in a particular practice area using lists from Best Lawyers newest publication, The Best Lawyers In Canada SM . Under the leadership of Legal Post Editor Sandy Rubin, the new feature will also include stories of interest written by Marzena Czarnecka and Julius Melnitzer, two of the countrys senior legal writers.
The National Post-Best Lawyers In Canada will also reach many of the most influential corporate legal officers in North America in the form of a stand-alone Directory, including all the Canadian listings, which will be mailed directly to over 10,000 U.S. and Canadian members of the Association of Corporate Counsel and to 3,000 c-suite executives from Canadas Financial Post 800 companies. In addition, the complete Directory will appear in the Financial Post Business magazine in the summer of 2007.
We are truly excited about this new project, said Gordon Fisher, Publisher of the National Post. The National Post has devoted considerable resources to developing what we think is a compelling and innovative multimedia platform that reaches the people lawyers care about.
"I am thrilled about this project and the prospect of partnering with an organization as strong as Best Lawyers, said Editor Sandy Rubin. This reinforces our position as the undisputed leader in legal coverage in Canada and our commitment to remaining out in front."
Best Lawyers has been ranking U.S. lawyers since 1981. Its lists are featured annually in more than 50 major city and regional publications in the U.S., including the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and New York Magazine, as well as in many legal and business publications. Best Lawyers In Canada is Best Lawyers first venture outside of the U.S., and its team of editors spent two years conducting peer-review surveys of the Canadian legal community to develop lists of the most highly respected lawyers in 53 practice areas.
Managing Editor of Best Lawyers and Pulitzer-Prize winner Steven Naifeh said, We are very pleased to be working with the National Post to make the results of this unprecedented effort available to a large and important audience.
Because lawyers must be selected by their peers for inclusion, Best Lawyers is regarded by both the legal profession and the public as the gold standard of integrity and reliability in lawyer ratings. Corporate Counsel magazine calls Best Lawyers the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice. Jerome Shestack, former President of the American Bar Association, has called BestLawyers a thorough, reliable, and valuable resource for all who seek the best in our profession.
