Global News Appoints Eric Sorensen As New Washington Bureau Chief

Veteran Journalist Joins Canada's Most-Watched National Newscast |

(Vancouver) Steve Wyatt, Senior Vice-President of News and Information at CanWest MediaWorks is pleased to announce the appointment of veteran broadcast journalist Eric Sorensen to the post of Washington Bureau Chief for Global News. Sorensens start date is effective November 1st.
Viewers who have come to trust Sorensen for compelling and thoughtful news coverage will be able to watch him report for Global National.
We are extremely pleased to have Eric join our award-winning team, said Wyatt. He is one of Canadas most accomplished journalists and brings with him a wealth of experience. His reputation for excellence has earned him well-deserved recognition among his peers and the countrys most influential decision makers.
Prior to this appointment, Sorensen has spent the last 14 years reporting for CBCs The National. He has covered many of the worlds major stories - from the Swissair crash in Peggys Cove in Nova Scotia, and Princess Dianas death in London, to the frontlines of Afghanistan. He has reported on Canadas most infamous criminals, and protests and riots such as the Summit of Americas in Quebec City, and the World Trade talks in Seattle, Washington.
Sorensen was the first Canadian to receive the prestigious Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Chicago and has lectured and taught journalism classes throughout Canada.
