(TORONTO) The first three months of the highly competitive Fall 2006 season have told the tale: Canadians love their "ETC". Since launching amidst critical acclaim just over one year ago, numbers for ET Canada have continued a steady increase - dominating nationally in the key 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54 demographic s*, and closing the national gap (2+) in a dead heat with its closest competitor, increasing overall viewership by 3% since Fall '05.

In more than 300 episodes since launching in September 2005, ET Canada has regularly profiled and followed the careers of over 400 Canadian artists - the vast majority of whom make Canada their home base. Many more have been exposed in the over 100 visits to Canadian sets, which have taken ET Canada crews across thousands of kilometers - from locations in the Yukon, to the Prairies, the Maritimes and beyond. Now more than ever, the success of ET Canada supports and contributes to the success of the Canadian entertainment industry on all levels.
"Being a part of breaking this genre of programming in Canada has been a thrill. It's a unique time - never before have broadcasters been able to commit in this way to promoting the growth of our homegrown talent,” said Barbara Williams, Senior VP Programming and Production, CanWest MediaWorks. “We're extremely proud that our ET Canada team has made such a strong connection with fans across Canada - providing an unparalled approach to interpreting the entertainment news scene both here at home, and around the world .”
