|
 |
(TORONTO) Gordon Fisher, Publisher of the National Post, today announced the appointment of Mark Spencer to the position of Vice President, Advertising. Mr. Spencer succeeds Kirk Allen, who was recently promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales, for CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc.
“I am pleased that Mark will be joining the National Post team,” said Mr. Fisher. “He is an exceptional advertising executive with comprehensive knowledge of client needs in terms of newspaper advertising in both the traditional and new media arenas.”
With over 25 years of experience in the newspaper industry, Mr. Spencer comes to CanWest from Torstar, where he served as Director of Advertising since 2001. Mark directed the efforts of a sales and service team of over 200 people for the Toronto Star in addition to the multi-market sales activity for other Torstar papers including the Hamilton Spectator, the Record of Kitchener-Waterloo and the Guelph Mercury.
Mark’s comprehensive experience in initiating advertising strategies will be an asset to the National Post. He has a solid background in new business development and has created successful strategies for specific market segments.
“I am delighted to join the Post,” said Mr. Spencer. “Since its birth eight years ago, the Post has been recognized as a motivating force in the industry for other major daily newspapers in Canada to continue to improve design and content for readers as well as advertisers”.
Mark is also active in charitable work as an Executive Board member of the National Advertising Benevolent Society, and he assists Sheridan College with their Program Advisory Committees for the Advertising and Business programs.
