TORONTO, April 13, 2005/ - CanWest MediaWorks announced today that it has
partnered with Lynda Reeves and House & Home Media to broadcast House & Home
TV in Fall 2005. The partnership also includes a book publishing deal and a
newspaper column that will be written by Reeves for CanWest's major market
newspapers, including the National Post.
"When you think of home design programming on television, there is one
brand that comes immediately to mind, and that is House & Home TV with Lynda
Reeves," said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice-President, Programming and
Production, CanWest MediaWorks. "We are pleased to welcome Lynda and her team
to CanWest and look forward to an exceptionally creative partnership."
Now in its eighth season, House & Home TV was one of the first national
daily television programs dedicated to teaching decorating and to promoting
talented Canadian designers. "We are thrilled with this new partnership
because we know that the reach, strength and resources of CanWest affords us a
unique opportunity to grow our brand even further," said Lynda Reeves,
President and Managing Partner of Toronto-based House & Home Media.
"As we begin our new season with CanWest Media Works, I feel personally
ready to take our show in a new direction," said Reeves. "We're keeping the
exclusive tours of the incredible homes that are unique to our show, as well
as the personal interviews with the biggest names in design. I think that our
viewers will be very excited when they see our new show."
House & Home Television is Canada's longest-running and most respected
design and decorating show, and Reeves, as its host, is well known for her
advice to viewers on all aspects of design. Many of the show's segments bring
stories to life directly from Canadian House & Home magazine, giving readers a
chance to meet the designers, homeowners and retailers featured in the monthly
publication. Canadian House & Home magazine is one of Canada's Top 10 consumer
magazines and continues to grow at an impressive rate as it approaches its
20th year of publication.
In 2003, House & Home launched an extensive line of branded merchandise
at Bay stores across Canada. Instantly successful, the line is currently being
expanded into other HBC key retailers.
