National Post and driving.ca Take on the 2007 Canadian International AutoShow

CanWest ramps up as #1 source for auto show coverage with show’s hottest prize giveaway
(TORONTO, ON) – This Friday, National Post and driving.ca will roll into the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto, providing show fans and visitors with the most comprehensive coverage and the largest, most exciting contest prize pack of this year’s event.
 
National Post, the official greeter of the 2007 Canadian International AutoShow, will be on hand at various location points throughout the show to welcome visitors, and provide show information and complimentary copies of the newspaper.
 
In addition, National Post and driving.ca have partnered with Lexus and media partners Global Television and 104.5 CHUM FM to offer visitors a chance to win The Lexus Perfect Moment Contest, featuring a grand prize worth over seventy-six thousand dollars:  a 2008 Lexus RX 350 SUV with a 270 horsepower engine, 5-speed automatic, full-time all wheel drive, heated front seats and more.  The winner will spend two nights at Langdon Hall Hotel and Spa in Cambridge – not far from the Lexus plant where they will pick out their brand new Lexus. Visitors to the National Post-driving.ca booth in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre ( South Building) can enter to win this exciting prize. The winner will officially be announced Monday, February 26 on 104.5 CHUM Radio, and aired during News Hour on Global Television.

Once again, driving.ca is hosting an exclusive microsite dedicated to the various Canadian auto shows with a preview of all the new cars, exclusive interviews, display reviews, and onsite coverage. As well, National Post helps start off CanWest’s extensive cross-platform coverage of the 2007 Canadian International AutoShow with a special section in today’s edition. Blackberry users will be able to enjoy ongoing updates for the duration of the auto show on bbTV (www.canada.com/bbTV) starting Friday, February 16.
 
driving.ca, the premier source for auto show coverage, kicks off its role in auto shows across the country this year with a “souped-up” presence at the Toronto show and the introduction of its new “Smarter buyer. Better car.” campaign, highlighting the site as the resource that offers consumers all of the tools to help them make a better decision about their next vehicle purchase. Visitors have an opportunity get acquainted with the new campaign and explore the automotive website at the National Post-driving.ca booth.

As well, driving.ca is teaming up with Mosport International Raceway, Canada’s Home of Motorsports, to present Canadian NASCAR driver Pierre Bourque who will be on hand for four exclusive days to sign autographs and meet with the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with Bourque and his racing car at the Mosport booth in the Rogers Centre on the following dates and times:
 
  • Friday Feb 16: 1-4pm and 6-9pm
  • Saturday Feb 17: 10:30am – 12pm and 1-3pm
  • Saturday Feb 24: 1-4pm and 6-9pm
  • Sunday Feb 25: 11am – 1 pm and 2-5pm

 
driving.ca and local CanWest newspapers will make other stops along the Canadian AutoShow route this year including Edmonton (March 1-4), Calgary (March 7-11), Vancouver (March 30-April 8), Saskatoon (April 20-22). Stay tuned for details of driving.ca’s participation in shows in those regions.
