Canada’s Largest Media Company Supports Growth of Canada’s Advertising Industry
Toronto – The National Advertising Awards (NAA) and CanWest MediaWorks Inc., Canada’s largest media company, are pleased to announce that CanWest has come onboard as the program’s 2007 Lead Sponsor. CanWest supports the objectives of the National Advertising Awards, which centre on the need to nurture the advertising industry in Canada and to ensure that Canadian advertising shines among the best on the international stage.

The National Advertising Awards is an advertising competition and festival that invites Canadian advertising professionals to submit original ideas based on a creative brief for a brand, specific product or philanthropic initiative across all media platforms.  The winning teams will receive travel and registration to attend the Cannes Advertising Festival in Cannes, France in June 2007. Attendance at Cannes will give leading Canadian creative and media planning teams the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from their peers from around the world and inform global businesses about the high level of creative talent that exists in Canada.

“The National Advertising Awards program promotes the relevance of strong, strategically sound creative to advertisers,” said David Rosenberg, Senior Vice President and Creative Director, Bensimon Byrne, and member of the NAA Board. “By aligning with the NAA program, CanWest MediaWorks is recognizing the need for outstanding creative across all media.”

The winners of the National Advertising Awards will be announced on May 2, 2007 at a gala event during the National Advertising Awards Festival in Toronto. This two-day event features media, interactive and creative conferences led by top Canadian talent. All entries in the awards competition will be exhibited, as well as the world’s best print work from the London International Ad Show.

The National Advertising Awards are an advertising competition (complete with a festival in early May) that invites Canadian ad professionals to submit original ideas based on a creative brief for a brand, a specific product or philanthropic initiative.  The winning teams receive a registration and flight to the Cannes Advertising Festival in June to learn from it and apply that learning back home.

The winners of the National Advertising Awards are announced in May at the National Advertising Awards Festival — a two-day Toronto-based event. It features media, interactive and creative conferences led by top Canadian talent. All of the work entered in the awards competition is on exhibit, as well as the world’s best print work from both Cannes and the London International Ad show.  The event also features an evening gala at which the winners are revealed.
