working.com Announces Winners of the Employer of Choice Marketing Awards

Gala event highlights outstanding efforts in employment branding in Canada
(Toronto, Ontario) working.com, Canada’s national career network with a distinctly local focus, is pleased to officially announce the winners of the first annual Employer of Choice Marketing Awards (ECMAs). Winners were presented their awards at a gala event at the Dominion Club in Toronto this evening, where the winning entries were showcased.

The only awards program of its kind in the country, the working.com Employer of Choice Marketing Awards recognize exceptional marketing strategies by employers in their efforts to attract and retain potential and current employees and to connect with the general public.

“ Canada’s top employers are quickly recognizing that employment branding gets them the talent they seek ,” Susan Hayes, General Manager, working.com, told the audience this evening. “The working.com ECMAs allow us to shine a spotlight on the real successes in this growing creative arena and the true power behind employment marketing.”

Co-hosted by Global News Anchor Leslie Roberts and Entertainment Tonight Canada Host Cheryl Hickey, the gala brought together representatives from various fields that have significantly contributed to advances in the area of employment branding, including employers, human resource professionals, advertising agencies and public relations practitioners. Judging of this year’s entries was conducted by a distinguished roster of professionals, including:

  • William Greenhalgh - CEO, Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario
  • Tony Meehan – Publisher, Mediacorp Canada Inc.
  • Tony Miller - Senior Vice President, Creative Director, ACLC
  • Steve Mykolyn - Vice President, Design & Interactive Creative Director, TAXI
  • Debbie Stremmel - Senior Vice President, Recruitment Marketplace

“We received a tremendous response from a broad range of organizations from across the country with outstanding examples of employment branding and we would like to congratulate all of our winners and participants,” said Hayes, General Manager, working.com. “Together, we are building a growing creative industry focused on finding, recruiting, motivating and retaining the very best talent.”
The ECMAs were created to promote the emerging efforts of Canadian organizations to include effective marketing as a leading component in their recruitment strategies. These organizations strive to develop creative branding solutions that capture the essence of their organization, generate a strong first impression, and help them attract, hire and retain the right employees.

The winning creative in the ECMAs will be highlighted during working.com’s presentation on employment branding on Friday, March 23 in Toronto at the 2007 Top Employers Summit, Canada’s largest conference on becoming an employer of choice.
