(TORONTO February 28, 2006) Global Television presents the premiere of a new 13-part documentary series that profiles the dark, bizarre and, at times, the quirky side of cosmetic surgery, body modification and image exaggeration.
Vanity Insanity premieres Wednesday, March 8 at 8pm ET/PT with all new episodes airing Wednesdays at 9pm beginning March 15.
Hosted and narrated by Canadian R & B recording artist, Deborah Cox, Vanity Insanity explores the growing phenomenon of cosmetic surgery, and some of the reasons behind the over 12 million cosmetic procedures that were performed last year in North America alone.
From illegal operations performed in beauty salons to women surgically altering their toes to improve their appearance in high heels each episode features a different array of individuals touched by the cosmetic surgery epidemic such as:
Elaine Young, a successful Beverly Hills celebrity real estate agent with over 50 surgeries and no end in sight.
Mamie Van Doren, 1950s Hollywood actress maintaining her sex icon status a half century later.
Shot in North America, Brazil and Mexico, Vanity Insanity is produced by Insight Film Studios in association with Global Television and Canal Vie.
