(TORONTO - February 2, 2006) Global News is pleased to announce the addition of a daily commentary with Bill Carroll during News Hour With Leslie Roberts, beginning Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. ET. Carrolls tell-it-like-it-is approach on everything from politics to pop culture will be featured as a stand-alone segment each weekday.
As a viewer, I am a real fan of Leslie Roberts and the Global News team, said Carroll. They focus on how things affect our everyday lives and they make us think, and I hope my commentaries add to this by getting the viewers talking they may not always like what I have to say, but if I can provoke at least one debate in your living room every week, I will have achieved my goal.
The opinionated and hugely popular host of Newstalk 1010 CFRBs 8:30am to noon program first appeared on Global News in September 2005, delivering an energetic and highly buzz-worthy commentary each Friday. Most recently, Carroll weighed in on the issues as part Global's Decision Canada in-studio team, providing local coverage of the federal election.
Bill has a no nonsense way of getting to the point on issues and he gets viewers to think instead of just accepting what newsmakers are saying at face value, said Ron Waksman, News Director, Global News Toronto. He brings added value to Global News and is one of the reasons viewers have made us Torontos fastest-growing newscast.
