Global National First to Announce a Conservative Win

National and regional news teams deliver unbeatable election coverage
(TORONTO – Monday, January 23, 2006) Global Television was the first network out of the election gates tonight, calling a Conservative government at exactly 7:30 p.m. ET to Maritime audiences.

Global National’s Kevin Newman anchored the joint national and regional live election broadcast from the network’s dedicated election headquarters in Toronto, providing up-to-the-minute results from ridings coast to coast , in-depth analysis from political experts and Canadian artists, as well as wall-to-wall, interactive online coverage on www.globalnational.com.

With correspondents reporting from more than 17 live remotes across the country, including the headquarters of each of the major leaders, and the largest ever election day Ipsos-Reid poll reaching more than 40,000 Canadians, viewers coast-to-coast were able to access both national results as well as results from their own backyard.

Since the beginning of the non-confidence vote at Parliament Hill, the Global National and Global’s regional newscasts have championed this federal election coverage campaign and provided Canadians with comprehensive breakdown of the major issues. Its reporters have been following the leaders closely in what can be deemed as one of the longest and hardest-fought election campaigns in recent history.

Canadians can continue to expect the best news coverage of the country’s most important issues from Global National and each of Global’s regional newscasts.
