CanWest MediaWorks Unveils New Brand Vision For Specialty Network TVtropolis

"Hit TV Lives Here" New Name, Logo and Visual Identity Anchors Roster of Iconic Hit Series
(WINNIPEG) CanWest MediaWorks today announced elements of an all-new brand vision for Canada's newest specialty network, TVtropolis.

Debuting in 5.6 million homes nationwide, TVtropolis is the only national network fuelled by back-to-back hit TV from the last 10-15 years, launching June 1, 2006.

"TVtropolis is the evolution of Prime, our specialty network that launched in 1997," said Tim Kist, Director of Marketing for CanWest MediaWorks’ Specialty Networks. "We’re leveraging the wins we’ve achieved over the years, and with our new program strategy of back-to-back iconic hits and Canadian television exclusives, we’re occupying a unique place in the TV landscape. Our exciting new brand and visual identity are at the core of our overall strategy, and poised to further refine a distinct niche for audiences and advertisers."


The spirited new TVtropolis visual identity begins its rollout by introducing a logo that is modeled on an array of television colour bars - signifying a bustling metropolitan skyline, and thriving centre for TV culture. Supported by the definitive tag line, "Hit TV lives here", these elements will be woven through all components of the network's advertising campaign and on-air presentation.

Commencing June 1, TVtropolis will be introduced to the public in a national multiplatform media campaign - signaling an exciting new momentum on the specialty scene.

From groundbreaking hits Seinfeld, Ellen, Married… With Children, Frasier and Grace Under Fire, along with endearing favourites like Newsradio, Due South, The Nanny and Beverly Hills 90210, TVtropolis is built on the series, characters and stars that have made an enduring mark on contemporary pop culture. In addition, fans can also enjoy the exclusive Canadian television premiere of series including Hogan Knows Best, Celebrity Fit Club, My Fair Brady and Breaking Bonaduce - exploring the "real" lives of TV's most familiar faces. Effective June 1, audiences nationwide will receive TVtropolis in the channel position formerly occupied by Prime.
