CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc. Launches Calgary RushHour

(Calgary) – Dennis Skulsky, President of CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc., announced today the launch of Calgary RushHour, a free morning news, sports and entertainment tabloid. Beginning today, Calgarians can pick up a copy of Calgary RushHour each weekday morning at 6:00 a.m. in select downtown locations.

“Calgary RushHour is part of our ongoing efforts to provide Calgarians with the information they want, when and where they want it," said Mr. Skulsky. "In this sports-crazed city, Calgary RushHour provides busy commuters each weekday morning with the latest sports scores, plus entertainment and lifestyle news from Calgary, across the country and around the world.”

Full of useful information about what’s going on in Calgary today, readers will find the following content in upcoming editions of Calgary RushHour:

  • local and international news;
  • sports news and scores from the previous day;
  • lifestyle news, including useful information about health and well-being, technology and jobs;
  • entertainment news, including television, movies and local event listings.

Calgary RushHour is the second RushHour publication launched by CanWest Publications Inc. in its ongoing effort to uncover opportunities to grow the business. Ottawa RushHour, which was launched in November, is a free, online news update and entertainment guide that fills the afternoon gap in news delivery in the Ottawa market. Calgary RushHour is being launched today in print; however, plans are in the works to make it available online in an easy-to-print PDF format.
