Statement by Leonard Asper, President and CEO of CanWest Global Communications Corp.

(Winnipeg, Manitoba) CanWest Global Communications Corp. President and CEO, Leonard Asper, today issued the following statement on the passing of the Honourable Peter M. Liba:
Manitobans, and indeed Canadians, have lost a truly great man. His contributions to his community, his province and his country were immense.
Peter Liba was a pillar on which CanWest Global was founded and we were fortunate to have had the benefit of his insight, experience and dedication over the many years with our Company. He was a valued advisor and friend.
On behalf of both the employees of CanWest and the entire Asper family, I extend our heartfelt personal sympathies to his wife Shirley and the Liba family.
Mr. Liba was Chairman of CanWest MediaWorks Income Fund. On behalf of the Fund, President and CEO Peter Viner joined Mr. Asper in expressing condolences to the Liba family.
