 Now a proud part of the Global Television Network, ITV was established in 1973 by Edmonton surgeon-turned-businessman, Dr. Charles Allard. An independent station created by individuals with new fresh ideas, ITV signed on in September 1974 with a schedule of bold and progressive programming.
On September 4th of 2000, Global Television welcomed ITV into its national broadcast entity, fulfilling founder Israel Asper's dream of creating a national television network.
Today, Global Edmonton leads the market with 35.5 hours of award-winning local news and sports programming. Global Edmonton is not only a leader in news and programming, but is also dedicated to developing partnerships for building stronger communities. Every year, Global Edmonton partners with over 50 non-profit organizations in the Edmonton area to develop programs, promote events and participate in community activities. |
