Acceptable Media Types
HTML, Image Maps (.gif), Animated Gifs (GIF89a); JPEG, Flash, Shockwave, JAVA, Java Script, DHTML, Real Audio (hosted by third party), Video Types (MOV, AVI, & MPEG, all hosted by a third party)

Creative Requirements
  • The working version of all creative and corresponding URLs must be received by our traffic team (trafficive.com) 48 hours prior to the start date of your campaign in order to avoid any delays in posting campaigns.
  • All enhanced creative material require testing and approval by our traffic team. This process may take up to 48 hours. Once creative has been tested and approved (if enhanced creative), please allow an additional 48 hours for trafficking preparations prior to the start of your campaign.
  • All Flash creative must be accompanied by a back-up .gif file to be served if the user does not have the correct plug-in. As well, all Flash creative must have the variable "clickTAG" implemented correctly within each .swf file. If you require assistance with implementation of the variable "clickTAG" please go to:

  • Ad size/type: 492 x 15 maximum pixels, 60 characters (including spaces) or 50 characters if adding logo.
  • Font Size: 11pt. Verdana BOLD
  • Placement: At the top of most Index pages (below LeaderBoard or Banner)

Top Layer (Vertical Path)
  • Ad size/type: 100 x 100 pixels maximum
  • Placement: Available to run outside the 768 width or right aligned to the browser window.
  • Top Layer path: Y = 0 to page bottom (height) X = 768 (width)

  • Placement: All pages on canada.com network
  • Top Layer path: Path is subject to approval and may require adjustments based on recommendations from Traffic, Design, Marketing, and Editorial Departments.
  • Creative Play Time: 10 Seconds Maximum
  • Top Layer ad must have a frequency cap of 2
  • Available on all canada.com Network pages, but exclusion may apply at time of booking. Please contact your CMW Sales Executive for more details.
  • Additional Costs: Please note, if you are using Unicast or Eyeblaster as your Host, additional charged do apply.

Pup-up Windows, Pop-under Window, Superstitial Ads
  • Ad Size/type: Pop-Up, Pop-Under, or Superstitials 300 x 300 pixels maximum

  • Placement: Available on all canada.com network pages
  • File Size: GIF/JPEG format 20K, Rich Media Format 30K. Please contact us if you require additional file size.
  • All creative must have a frequency cap of 2

Transitional Ad
  • Ad Size/type: Transitional Ad 400 x 600 pixels maximum
  • Placement: Available on all canada.com pages
  • File Size: GIF/JPEG format 20K, Rich Media Format 30K
  • Messaging: Creative will be displayed on an html page with the canada.com header offering users the option to skip the ad. The html page will contain the following message: Advertisement. You will be automatically redirected to the page requested in a few moments.
  • All creative must have a frequency cap of 2 per month.
  • Note: The final copy of creative will require creative approval by Design, Marketing, and Editorial Departments.
  • Transitional ads may not exceed 10 seconds.

Advertorial
  • Copy size: Primary page may contain 500 characters, which will be the lead-in paragraph and 1 image.
  • Placement: All canada.com National Channel Homepages and City Homepages excluding Finance

Seconday Page Advertorial
  • Copy size: Primary page may contain 500 characters, which will be the lead-in paragraph and 1 image.
  • Secondary page may contain up to 2000 words, 3 images and 5 URL links to client site.
  • Placement: All canada.com National Channel Homepages and City Homepages excluding Finance

Expandable Leader Board (Roll-out Leader Board)
  • Ad size/type: 728 x 90 pixels may expand to 728 x 250 pixels maximum
